The 15th International Symposium on

Practical design of ships and other floating structures

October 9 - 13, 2022 Dubrovnik, Croatia

About PRADS

PRADS  (International Symposium on Practical Design of Ships and Other Floating Structures) is a traditional series of triennial symposia, aiming at an international exchange of new knowledge and achievements with regard to the design, research and development of ships and other floating structures.

Previous PRADS symposia:

In spite of the challenging times for conferences all around the world, the 15th International Symposium on Practical Design of Ships and Other Floating Structures (PRADS 2022) continues the tradition and excellence of previous PRADS conferences, and will be held as an in- person event in Dubrovnik, Croatia, from 9 to 13 October 2022.

Message from the Conference Chairs

Since the last PRADS in 2019 in Yokohama, Japan, the world has been completely transformed by COVID-19 pandemic. Besides the extensive change to both our professional and private lives, the pandemic has confirmed that the reliability of transportation chains is one of the key aspects of our existence. The maritime industry has therefore probably never been as important as it is now. On the other hand, other challenges over the last decade, for instance environmental concerns, have contributed to the current highly complex design and operation framework in the maritime sector. Emission reduction targets push all parties involved in ship and offshore structures to offer highly competitive products, simultaneously considering safety, functionality and economy.

These issues require a timely and adequate response from both researchers and practitioners.

Bearing in mind the tradition and excellence of previous PRADS symposia, there is probably no better place to present and discuss new findings, ideas, challenges and emerging topics than PRADS 2022.

We are happy to invite you to PRADS 2022 in Dubrovnik, Croatia, jointly organized by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, of the University of Zagreb, Croatia, and Bureau Veritas, Paris, France.

PRADS 2022 will gather participants from universities, class societies, shipyards, research Institutes, representatives of ship-owners and ship-operators, as well as other leading experts in the field. Prospective authors are invited to contribute to PRADS 2022 with non-published papers of archival value, written according to the given template in English and following high standards of academic writing. The Local Organising Committee and the Standing Committee will be pleased to welcome you to PRADS 2022, which will undoubtedly prove to be a unique and memorable event.

Welcome to PRADS 2022 in Dubrovnik!
